Antibody testing begins with Health Workers

On Thursday 22nd May the UK Government announced that ten million antibody tests will be rolled out in a phased manner over the coming months, with health and care staff, patients and care residents first in line in England. The devolved governments will get a share of the tests and will announce their priorities separately, though indications are that it will be similar; NHS workers, care home staff and residents will get them first.

Whilst it has not yet been announced when Essential Workers will be included, reports say that the test will become available to the wider public, although it is unclear how and when this will happen. However, news reports indicate that people who are having blood tests for other ailments will also be asked if they would like a coronavirus antibody test.

BCVA will continue to update members with any new information about access to these tests as soon as it becomes available.
