TB Hub Revamp Success

BCVA welcomes the news that that Defra has funded a full redesign of the TB hub website, making it easier to navigate and a more useful tool for farm vets and farmers in the fight against the devastating disease.

The TB hub website is a joint industry-government initiative. Since it was launched in 2015, it has become the ‘go-to’ place for farmers and cattle vets to find practical advice and information on dealing with bovine TB.

The site covers a broad range of subjects, from biosecurity measures and TB testing, to understanding cattle trading rules. Alongside guidance on minimising the impact of TB on farms, there is also information on what farmers can do to reduce the risk of bovine TB getting into their herds, both from cattle movements and wildlife.

The £25k redesign has greatly improved navigation, making it easier for those that need information in a hurry. There are videos, podcasts, factsheets and FAQs covering a variety of topics, as well as longer articles for those wanting more detail.

There are two key groups which the redesigned TB hub particularly aims to help:

  • Those who are dealing with a TB breakdown.
  • Those who want to protect their herd from TB.

The Welsh Government supports the re-design of TB Hub and will be providing further bilingual content for the site in due course.

“This TB hub revamp is good news for our members and their clients” explains Sarah Tomlinson, BCVA Board member – who is also on the Tb Eradication and Advisory Group for England (TBEAG).

“The information on the site has always been invaluable, and it is now much easier to access. It is a great TB resource for our members and it also allows them to signpost farmers to the advice about TB prevention and support them whilst under restrictions. It is a public site, so all the content is accessible, but there are plans to have a resource section with references for vets and those wanting more in-depth knowledge.”
