BVD - PI update

Please see below an email from the Scottish Government regarding the Scottish BVD eradication scheme.

Dear large animal vets,

Thank you to everyone who has already completed the on-line CPD for Scotland’s BVD eradication scheme.  For those still to do it, you have until 31st January before your existing Approved Vet status will lapse.  The link is: https://training.elearning.sruc.ac.uk/

You may already have noticed that ScotEID is showing two new PI management features.  When you are logged-in you should be able to see the list of PIs and the new PI locator.  In the next couple of weeks, the PI locator will be made available to all users of ScotEID, whether logged in or not.  We hope that the PI locator will promote biosecurity, and encourage farmers to think carefully about retaining BVD Positive animals.  Please note that “PI” is used to cover suspect PIs (one BVD positive test result), confirmed PIs and assumed PIs (offspring of a BVD Positive dam).

If you need any assistance in logging-in or using ScotEID, please ring the helpline: 0300 244 9823.

Thanks for all your work in supporting Scotland’s BVD eradication scheme, and I hope that you all manage to get some time to relax over the festive period.

Happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year,

JENNY PURCELL
